The Portuguese international player João Félix was elected the best player of the season at Atlético de Madrid, in a vote carried out by the fans.
“Thanks to them [the fans] and my team too, a player alone doesn’t do everything, if I won this award it was also a lot with them”, justified the 22-year-old Portuguese player, who participated in 35 games, scored 10 goals and made five assists.
The player recalled that he started and ended the season injured, so he hopes, in the next one, to improve and achieve even more.
“I felt good, I started injured, ended up injured, but I felt good during the season. At times playing more, at other times less, but I felt good, there is always room for improvement and for the next season to be better,” he said.
Félix also hopes that ‘Atleti’ is in the fight for the titles, showing a great desire to win.
“Next season, we have to be a little more regular, something we haven’t been this season, and so, surely, with the team we have, we’re going to fight for titles. […] We want to win titles. I have a lot of confidence that we can do it next year,” he added.
Atlético de Madrid, champions in the 2020/21 season, finished the last one in third place, 15 points behind the champions Real Madrid, being also eliminated in the Supercup (semi-finals), Copa del Rey (8th finals) and Liga dos Champions (quarter-finals).
