Leader Westerlo won the opening game of the 22nd match day in the 1B Pro League 2-1 against Waasland-Beveren on Friday evening.
It was an evening of shivering and trembling in ‘t Kuipje, with Pietro Perdichizzi as the anti-hero. First the defender made it 0-1 with an own goal, just under fifteen minutes before the whistle he was ruled out when the score was 2-1 in favor of the home team. Lyle Foster had already equalized after 19 minutes, Bruggeling Maxim De Cuyper put the 2-1 final score on the board after 66 minutes.
In the standings, ‘Westel’ now has eleven points more than first pursuer RWDM, which will close the match day on Sunday evening with a home game against Lierse. Waasland-Beveren follows with 13 points less than the leader in third place.
