Rolfö: “The most magical thing I’ve been through”
Football history was written when Barcelona beat Real Madrid 5-2 in the Champions League quarter-final at the Camp Nou. 91,553 people sat in the stands and the Swedish star Fridolina Rolfö played the entire match.
“It was the most magical thing I have ever experienced,” she writes in a text message to SVT Sport.
Fridolina Rolfö has become an important player in the world’s best club team Barcelona. She came to the club before this season and tonight they were ready for the CL semifinals after beating rivals Real Madrid.
The match was an impressive 5-2 victory, but what stood out was the record figure of 91,553. So many have never seen a football match with women before.
“It was the most magical thing I’ve been through in football. An audience that sang the whole match. It was cool to win in front of that audience “, writes Fridolina Rolfö who assisted Claudia Pina’s 3-2 goal.
After the match, she posted a celebratory photo on Instagram together with the Norwegian Ingrid Syrstad Engen.
“A historic moment for the ladies of Barcelona and for women’s football,” she wrote.
Among the comments were several of her national team colleagues, including Chelsea captain Magdalena Eriksson.
“How cool and so cruel you are!”, Writes Eriksson.
